PRACTICAL WAYS TO ADDRESS FUNDAMENTAL ISSUES
I have worked for the energy industry and numerous NGOs on complex reputational issues, policy and advocacy. I am interested in solving problems and building ways of preventing them from happening again.
I have found various things work really well:
asking stakeholders questions and listening
informal conversations deliberately used to inform thinking
simple tools work better than complicated ones
using plain English in engagement, not jargon
taking time
involving senior management in engagement
Some of these are mutually contradictory of course, and I have had to work around them.
